The numbers on your tyre sidewall tell you which tyre fits your vehicle. Using 205/55 R16 91V as an example:
| Marking | What it means |
|---|---|
| 205 | Tyre width in millimetres |
| 55 | Sidewall height as a percentage of the width |
| R | Radial construction |
| 16 | Wheel (rim) diameter in inches |
| 91 | Load index |
| V | Speed rating |
Your size is also listed in the vehicle handbook. Call your nearest branch with your tyre size and registration to check availability.
Regular checks help you spot problems early. If you are unsure about anything you find, our team can inspect the tyres.
The legal minimum tread depth for cars in the UK is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre, around its whole circumference. Many drivers replace tyres before they reach the limit, because wet grip falls as the tread wears. If you are unsure, ask the depot to measure it.
Check pressures regularly, ideally when the tyres are cold, using the figures in your vehicle handbook. Under- or over-inflated tyres can wear unevenly and affect handling.
Look for cuts, cracks, bulges, embedded nails or screws and uneven wear across the tread. Any of these is a reason to have the tyre inspected promptly.
Tyres can deteriorate with age even when the tread looks good, particularly on vehicles that are not used often. Ask our team to check older tyres.
Fitting is only part of the job. Our branches also offer these services alongside tyre supply.
Balancing after fitting helps prevent vibration through the steering wheel or seats.
If the car pulls to one side or the tyres wear unevenly, ask about a tracking check.
A puncture may be repairable depending on where the damage is and how large it is. The tyre needs to be inspected to confirm.

Premium tyres offer better grip, fuel efficiency and longevity, while budget tyres provide reliable performance at a lower cost.
Your tyre size is printed on the tyre sidewall, for example 205/55 R16, and is also listed in your vehicle handbook. Call your chosen branch with the size and your registration to check availability and options.
Our branches offer puncture repairs. Whether a tyre can be repaired depends on the position and size of the damage, so the tyre needs to be inspected at the depot.
Check pressures regularly and before long journeys, ideally when the tyres are cold. Use the figures in your vehicle handbook or on the label inside the door or fuel flap, if fitted.
Fitting tyres in pairs on the same axle is commonly recommended so that grip and wear stay balanced. Ask your branch what suits your vehicle.
